What is it?
Tixel® is a revolutionary treatment that gives extraordinary results in treating a wide range of conditions. Tixel® uses thermo-mechanical ablation technology (TMA) to provide anti-aging improvements to the skin tone and texture, giving it a radiant and youthful appearance. Tixel® delivers results comparable to deep skin peels and intensive laser treatments, less downtime, less pain, and faster recovery times.
Tixel® treatment is ideal for those seeking smoother, more radiant, and revitalized-looking skin but worried about downtime. The added benefit is that it continues to deliver results that improve over time and can last for several years (as your collagen produces the effects).
How Does Tixel® Work?
Tixel® uses innovative technology known as thermo-mechanical ablation (TMA). This non-invasive treatment harnesses the power of heat to rejuvenate and revitalize the skin. During the Tixel® treatment, a small handheld device with a grid of tiny, pyramid-shaped pins made of biocompatible material gently taps the skin’s surface.
As the pins contact, they briefly heat the targeted area using controlled thermal energy. The thermal energy generated by Tixel® creates microchannels in the skin, stimulating a natural healing response. This process triggers the production of new collagen and elastin, essential components for youthful and healthy skin.

Tixel® Offers 3 Levels of Treatment: Open Channel, Medium Ablative, and Full Ablative
The Open Channel treatment level represents the gentlest approach. By applying controlled heat to the skin’s surface, it induces the formation of microchannels. These channels enhance the skin’s permeability, enabling the effective absorption of topical medications. This specialized application targets various conditions, such as:
One of the most significant advantages of the Open Channel treatment, downtime is minimal, allowing you to resume normal activities the day after the procedure. You can get amazing results without taking a lot of time to recover from your procedure.
Medium Ablative Treatment
This intermediate level of treatment can deliver skin tightening outcomes equivalent to those of the full ablative level. However, additional sessions may be required depending on the condition of your skin. The recovery period is shorter, allowing individuals to resume normal activities within 24 hours. Post-treatment care remains about the same as full ablative treatment.
Full Ablative Treatment
The full ablative treatment, along with the medium ablative treatment, is highly suitable for advanced skin tightening and scar treatment. This advanced level of treatment yields outcomes comparable to a fractional CO2 laser resurfacing treatment or a deep chemical peel and only requires one session for optimal results. The recovery period may vary, with the skin appearing pink and developing small micro crusts for 2-3 days. It’s generally recommended that patients take a few days off of work following the treatment.
Common Questions Asked About Tixel®
How many treatments will I need?
The amount of treatments required depends on the treatment mode you choose and the condition of your skin. For example, full Ablative sessions produce quicker results compared to Medium Ablative treatments. While some patients notice improvements after a single treatment, the recommended approach for optimal results is a series of 3-6 sessions spaced ideally 4-6 weeks apart, followed by maintenance treatments every 6 or 12 months. However, it is important to take into consideration that each patient’s needs vary, which affects the number of sessions they may need.
What are the side effects and downtime?
Again, this depends on the level of treatment you choose. Your skin may feel tight, warm, and slightly sensitive, similar to if you have been under the sun for a while, with some mild swelling and redness for up to 3 days after the treatment. If you opt for the Open Channel Treatment, you will be able to return to your normal activities the day following your treatment.

Dr. Kovak and his team will fully explore the treatment options with you during your initial consultation. He will also advise you on the best treatment plan based on various factors, including your skin condition, skin type, and the results that you would like to achieve.
What can I expect during the treatment?
During the Tixel® treatment, you can anticipate a comfortable and well-guided process. Our dedicated specialists will start by cleansing and preparing your skin, ensuring its optimal condition. To ensure precision and effectiveness, we may mark a grid on your face using a white pencil, allowing for systematic treatment in sections.

This process will continue until the entire treatment area is covered. Typically, the treatment duration ranges from 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the specific requirements and areas being treated.
